The Deep Blue Sea in London

Starring:

Tamsin Greig

As part of a double season of productions set to open in the West End for a limited run in Spring 2025, Terence Rattigan's 1950s exploration of obsession and the destructive nature of love will feature Olivier Award-winning actress Tamsin Greig.

The Deep Blue Sea - The Story

The Deep Blue Sea is a powerful drama that explores the emotional turmoil of Hester Collyer, a woman caught in a passionate but destructive affair with a former RAF pilot, Freddie Page. Set in post-war London, this is a play which dives into themes of love, loss and isolation as Hester grapples with her unfulfilled marriage to a high court judge and her deep, obsessive love for Freddie.

About The Deep Blue Sea

His secret relationship partly inspires Terence Rattigan's play with Kenny Morgan and the emotional fallout following their breakup. Originally premiering in London in 1952, the play has seen numerous revivals, including a 2019 run at Chichester Festival Theatre featuring Nancy Carroll. The current production, which originated at Theatre Royal Bath during a brief season in Spring 2024, is now coming to London.

The Deep Blue Sea Cast and Creatives

Starring one of the country's best-loved loved stage and screen actresses, Tamsin Greig has a career spanning four decades. She won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2007 for Much Ado About Nothing and received nominations for The Little Dog Laughed and Women on the Verge of a Breakdown. She will be joined by Finbar Lynch (Girl From The North Country).

Directed by Lindsay Posner, the creative team includes Set and Costume Designer Peter McKintosh, Lighting Designer Paul Pyant, Sound Designer Gregory Clarke, Composer Will Stuart, Hair, Wigs & Make-up Designer Carole Hancock, Casting Director Ginny Schiller and Associate Director George Jibson.
