Clueless The Musical - The Story

This is a clever contemporary take on Jane Austen’s novel Emma. The action is set in 1995, in glitzy Beverly Hills USA, where the popular high school student Cher Horowitz is hooked on matchmaking. It’s her thing. She's about to embark on her biggest project yet – making over her awkward new friend Tai and setting her up with the most handsome boy in school. But what happens to Cher when, for the first time, everything doesn’t go as planned? Maybe she isn’t the best judge of what love is... and isn’t.

About Clueless The Musical

The new musical is inspired by the iconic Paramount Pictures film, which marks its 30th anniversary in 2025. A two week try-out at Bromley’s Churchill Theatre saw the show refined and honed for a premier to remember, starring Emma Flynn (Little Shop of Horrors) as Cher, Annie Southall (The Wizard of Oz) as Tai, Madison McBride (Full Circle) as Dionne, Solomon Davy (Grease The Musical) as Christian, and Keelan McAuley as Josh.

Clueless The Musical Cast and Creatives

The musical’s writer Amy Heckerling has made sure the wit and charm of the film translates beautifully to the stage, and there’s a fresh original score by the Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall (Saving Grace). The lyrics are by theatreland legend Glenn Slater (Tangled, Sister Act, School of Rock). The show is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh (The Great British Bake Off Musical) and choreographed by Olivier Award winner; Kelly Devine, who worked on Come From Away.

Clueless The Musical promises audiences a hilarious, nostaglic, and high-energy trip back to the '90s where fashion, friendship and unforgettable music will collide on stage early next year!
