Ballet to Broadway will showcase the best of Christopher Wheeldon's approach to dance at the prestigious Royal Opera House this Spring. Known for his work in ballet and musical theatre that has taken him across the globe, Wheeldon's work on MJ The Musical earned him an Olivier Award nomination in 2025.
About Ballet to Broadway
Ballet to Broadway will mix four distinct ballets: Fool's Paradise, The Two of Us, Us and An American in Paris. To a score by Joby Talbot, Fool's Paradise was commissioned in 2007 for Wheeldon's own company and premiered at The Royal Ballet in 2012. The Two of Us, danced to music by Joni Mitchell, premiered at New York's Fall for Dance Festival in 2020. Us, performed by two men, was created for the award-winning male dance company Balletboyz in 2017 and is set to music by Keaton Henson. Completing the programme is An American in Paris, the ballet sequence from Wheeldon's Tony Award-winning musical. Based on the movie, which starred Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron, it's an adaptation of one of the most iconic sequences from the film.
