Aida in London
Robert Carsen will direct Giuseppe Verdi's "transformative" (Financial Times) and strikingly relevant production of love and war, returning to the Royal Opera House in January 2025. Aida is a large-scale political drama that frames power struggles and toxic jealousies in a modern, totalitarian state.
Aida - The Story
Set against the backdrop of war between Egypt and Ethiopia, Aida tells the story of a tragic love triangle. Aida, an Ethiopian princess enslaved in Egypt, falls in love with the Egyptian military commander Radames, who reciprocates her feelings. However, their love is complicated by Radames' duty to Egypt and the jealousy of Amneris, the Egyptian princess, leading to betrayal, heartache, and a devastating final act where the lovers meet their fate.

Daniel Oren conducts the monumental score with Anna Pirozzi as Aida, Riccardo Massi as Radames, Ekaterina Semenchuk as Amneris and Amartuvshin Enkhbat as Amonasro.
