Accidental Death of an Anarchist is written by Dario Fo and Franca Rame and this is a fresh new adaptation by Tom Basden. Directed by Daniel Raggett, the performance includes smoke, haze, strobe lighting, flashing and blinding lights, loud music, and unexpected extremely noisy sound effects. It’s also stacked with references that some people might find ‘upsetting’ and ‘unsettling’, a sign that it’s an unusually good piece of theatre!

The story is inspired by a real-life 1969 scandal. The anarchist Giuseppe Pinelli died after falling from a fourth-floor window in the Italian police station, where he was being interrogated about a Milan terrorist bomb attack that killed 17 people.

The brilliant Daniel Rigby plays the Maniac, with Tony Gardner as Superintendent Curry. The full West End cast will be announced nearer the time. Daniel Raggett directs, the set and costume design is by Anna Reid, the lighting design by Jai Morjaria, and the sound design and composition by Annie May Fletcher.
