A Christmas Carol-ish Tickets

It’s joyful, it’s triumphant, and it’s perfect for Christmas! A Christmas Carol (ish) is in town to delight you for the festive season so buckle up, gather the family, grab a mince pie and make your way to the Soho Place Theatre.

The brilliant Taskmaster loser and Emmy nominee Nick Mohammed takes to the stage again in his critically acclaimed role as alter-ego ‘Yorkshire Pudding’ Mr. Swallow. This is the story of A Christmas Carol... not! The plot bears very little resemblance to Dickens’ novel, it’s a star-studded all-singing, all-dancing Xmas comedy that’s tipped to become a West End favourite.

A Christmas Carol (ish) - The Story

The plot goes like this. Charles Dickens’ Estate has refused Mr Swallow’s request to stage A Christmas Carol. So he’s forced to improvise. In his version of the classic story Santa cancels Christmas on Christmas Eve, and three ghosts try to change his mind.

Time is horribly short and Mr Swallow is forced to replace Scrooge with Santa. Instead of Jacob Marley, there’s an elf. The reindeer is called Rudolph Hess. There’s cruise line singer on stage waiting for Lloyd Webber to call her with a starring role. There’s something going on with Angela Lansbury. Jesus is being born. A woman falls in love with a human-sized turkey. It is utter chaos, just as wonderfully silly as it sounds - and you’ll be in fits of laughter all the way through.

A Christmas Carol (ish) cast and creatives

Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed joins Martha Howe-Douglas (Horrible Histories, Ghosts), Borderline’s David Elms, and Two Doors Down’s Kieran Hodgson to deliver the perfect dose of irreverent Christmas comedy chaos.

The director is Matt Peover. The book and lyrics are by Nick Mohammed, with music from Oliver Birch and set and costume design from Fly Davis. Richard Howell is Lighting Designer, Emily Holt is the Choreographer, Freddie Tapner is Music Supervisor, Honor Halford-MacLeod is the Musical Director and the producer is Owen Donovan. Simon Nathan is the Orchestrator, Kate Margretts the Props Supervisor, and Lisa Aitkin the Costume Supervisor.
